THE WHO AND THE WHAT
[ New York City, New Jersey, Croatia ]
The WHO is Dennis Cernosia, a New York/New Jersey based street and travel photographer with deep family roots in Croatia. Dennis specializes in chronicling the new world and the old - and every place in between. His work encompasses a spectrum of intriguing cityscapes and avenues of New York, to captivating images of turquoise seas and medieval towns in Croatia and the confluence of the old and new around Europe.
The WHAT.
What’s easier to remember, my actual name, Dennis Cernosia or CrashRyan? Let's be real, I was not blessed with a cool name, so back in the 90’s when I created my first photoblog I came up with that nom-de-plume, which initially started as an inside joke between friends at a bar in Hoboken.
But then it just stuck.
'Crash' and 'Ryan' came from the name of two movie characters I cobbled together. Hints are:
- “The rose goes in the front big guy”
- “Next time write a memo Jack.”
The EXPERIENCE.
I caught the photography bug as a kid when my dad let me borrow his Kodak 110mm film camera for a school trip. I really didn't start getting serious about photography until the late 90's, and then jumped head long into it when I switched from film to digital in 2002.
Over the decades I was content to show my photos on my personal photoblog, and then on social media, and now I'm taking the next step in selling my photos.
