It's back!

CrashRyan the web site is back for it’s 12th iteration since 1997. It initially started as a photoblog, back when photoblogs actually meant something.

THOSE EARLY PHOTOS

So what did those early photos look like? Take a look at the scratched up, fuzzy, hazy, out of focus image above.

Yup, that's how I shot sunrises back in 1998 when I was vacationing on the island of Ugljan, Croatia. Sad, right?

I was waiting for the early morning ferry and saw that tiny fishing boat coming out of the orange haze. I just had to whip out my old Fuji film camera to capture this amazing scene. Unfortunately my gear back then was terrible, and it did not do the moment justice. It took a couple of more years before I invested in better gear, took classes and generally tried to improve my skills every chance I could. However, I hated the process of scanning my photos from slides, so in 2002 I jumped into the digital camera world and never looked back.

HOW I SHOOT NOW

Compare that top photo with the one below.

A sunset shot taken 25+ years later on the same island in Croatia, my little bit of paradise.

My gear sure has come a long way since then, and hopefully my skills as a photographer too.
